Press Release After the Council Meeting of 29 October 2009

At its meeting held on 29 October 2009, the Council of the Republic Broadcasting Agency pronounced a reprimand against Pink TV and filed a request for initiating misdemeanour proceedings, for broadcasting the programme entitled The Moment of Truth, dated 7 October 2009.

The Council is of the opinion that, by broadcasting the above mentioned programme, Pink TV violated Article 68 of the Broadcasting Law stating, inter alia, that a broadcaster is obliged to comply with certain programme standards and not broadcast programmes the content of which may impair the physical, mental or moral development of children and youth, as well as to clearly mark such programmes and, if it is broadcasting them, do so only between 24:00 and 06:00 hours.

 

After this case, the Council gave the order, in accordance with its competences, to its technical departments to put under special supervision any programme forms of similar content on all television stations.
