Colleagues from the regulatory authorities of Turkiye and Azerbaijan visit REM
Staff of the Supreme Council for Radio and Television of the Republic of Turkiye (RTUK) and the Audiovisual Council of Azerbaijan (ACRA) paid a five-day study visit to the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM). The visit, which took place in Belgrade from 23 to 27 June, was organised with the aim of exchanging knowledge, experiences and strengthening cooperation in the field of regulation and monitoring of the work of media service providers.
During the visit, the guests from Turkiye and Azerbaijan had the opportunity to get acquainted with the competencies and manner of operation of the Regulator, starting from the licensing process, the procedures of monitoring media service providers, to the specific challenges REM faces in the digital environment.
Special emphasis was placed on the technical aspects of broadcasting programme content in Serbia. In this context, a visit to the public enterprise Transmitters and Communications was organised, where guests had the opportunity to learn about the technical digital broadcasting infrastructure in Serbia, the history of broadcasting technology in our country, as well as the tourist potential of the Avala Tower.
In addition, a visit to the Radio Television of Vojvodina was organised, in order to present to the colleagues the work of the Provincial Public Media Service, which broadcasts its programme in Serbian and 15 other languages of ethnic groups. The guests had the opportunity to witness the filming of the shows, visit the information desk, as well as to exchange experiences about the functioning and production of the programme in the course of discussion with part of the Radio-Television Vojvodina management.
During the visit, the staff of RTUK and ACRA got acquainted in detail with the work of REM technical services, exchanged examples of good practice from everyday work and discussed possibilities of expanding cooperation within the area of their competences.
The visit of colleagues from Turkiye was organised in accordance with the Protocol on Cooperation and the expert exchange programme REM has signed with RTUK, while with colleagues from Azerbaijan it was organised on the basis of the established bilateral cooperation between the two regulatory authorities.
