Public statement on the declaration of a day of mourning on 1 November marking the anniversary of the deaths of citizens in Novi Sad
The Government of the Republic of Serbia decided to declare the 01st November 2025 a day of mourning marking the anniversary of the death and suffering of citizens caused by the collapse of the structure of the Novi Sad Railway Station.
Since the entry into force of the Law on Amendments to the Law on Marking of the Day of Mourning in the Territory of the Republic of Serbia (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 30/2010), the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media has been monitoring, as a entrusted tasks, the implementation of provisions relating to the programmes of radio and television service providers.
The Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media instructs the media service providers to broadcast the decision to declare the day of mourning during the provision of media services. During the day of mourning, they are instructed to broadcast music and programmes appropriate to the day of mourning instead of humorous, entertainment, forced environment reality programmes, folklore and other programme content with popular and folk music, and adjust their detailed programme schedule.
On the occasion of the day of mourning, the Regulator will directly apply the provisions of the Law on Marking of the Day of Mourning in the Territory of the Republic of Serbia (Official Gazette of the RS, no. 101/05 and 30/10).
In accordance with the provisions relating to the manner of marking the day of mourning, the Regulator recommends the broadcasting of artistic and instrumental music in a minor key.
