Representatives of REM and RTV on a study visit to the Supreme Council for Radio and Television of the Republic of Turkey
Representatives of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM), together with the representatives of Radio Television of Vojvodina, visited Ankara from 24 to 28 November, as part of a study visit to the Supreme Council for Radio and Television of the Republic of Turkey (RTÜK). The visit was organised on the basis of the Protocol on Cooperation and Expert Exchange Programme that REM has with RTÜK, aimed at strengthening institutional cooperation, exchanging experiences and improving regulatory practices in the field of media.
During the visit, the delegation from Serbia was introduced to the RTÜK’s competencies and procedures – from the licensing process, the oversight of media service providers, to specific regulatory challenges in the digital environment.
Representatives of REM and RTV also visited the Turkish public service broadcaster – Turkish Radio and Television, where they had an opportunity to attend the recording of radio and television shows and to exchange experiences with part of its management about the organisation, functioning and production of the public media service.
On the third day of the visit, the delegation visited the TURKSAT (Türksat Satellite Communication Cable TV and Business Inc.) company, the national operator that manages Turkey's satellite infrastructure and provides services of satellite communications, electronic communication networks, Internet and electronic administration.
The visit contributed to the improvement of cooperation between the institutions of the two countries and opened opportunities for new forms of exchange of knowledge.
