Open Days of Media Literacy kick off with a workshop at RTV
The Open Days of Media Literacy, traditionally organised by the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media during Children's Week, began today with a workshop for high school students held at Radio Television of Vojvodina.
This year's programme is dedicated to enhancing the media and digital literacy of young people, with a special focus on developing skills that enable them to use digital platforms and content safely, responsibly, and critically.
The first workshop, held in cooperation with and with the assistance of RTV, was dedicated to the topic of Strengthening the Digital Resilience of Young People and brought together high school students who, through interactive and tailored content, had the opportunity to discuss the challenges they encounter daily in the digital environment.
During the workshop, ways to recognise potential risks and responsible use of digital technologies were discussed. Special emphasis was placed on the need for young people to develop, alongside technical skills, the ability to think critically about the content they follow, share, and use.
The workshop Strengthening the Digital Resilience of Young People is part of the project of the same name by the Regional Cooperation Council within the Western Balkans Youth Lab 2 initiative and represents only one of the activities to be implemented during the fifth Open Days of Media Literacy, from 5 to 9 October 2026.
Concurrently with this activity, the campaign Media Doors Wide Open was launched, which will be implemented in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Subotica, Pančevo, Kikinda, and Knjaževac, aimed at preschoolers with the goal of raising awareness about the operations and functioning of the media.
Within this campaign, visits to media service providers are planned, during which the youngest have the opportunity to peek into the world of journalism and how news is made on television and radio, as well as to try their hand at that role. This year, Radio Television of Serbia, Radio Television of Vojvodina, PE Transmitters and Communications, NAXI Radio, RTV Pančevo, and members of the RAB SRBIJA Association of Radio Stations joined the campaign.
By marking the Open Days of Media Literacy, REM continues to contribute to empowering and enhancing the media literacy of children and youth, who should become informed, critical, and responsible users of media and digital technologies.
