REM representatives at the 31st Radio Days: Analysis of media needs and continuation of cooperation with RAB Serbia

Representatives of the Regulatory Authority for Electronic Media (REM) participated in the 31st Radio Days, organised by the RAB Serbia association, which brought together a large number of players from the country's and region's radio industry at Mt. Zlatibor from 19 to 21 April.
This year's participation of REM representatives was focused on a panel that served as a unique platform for dialogue between theoretical research and the real situation on the market. REM representative Milan Todorović presented in detail the findings of the Report on the Needs of Media Service Users in Serbia, which provides a deep insight into what the audience expects from the media, what kind of content it consumes, and to what extent it trusts the information it receives.
A special focus was placed on cross-referencing these data with the results of the Survey on the Sustainability of Local and Regional Radio Stations in Serbia, which was conducted by the RAB Serbia association. This comparative analysis made it possible to identify the points where the needs of listeners and the capabilities of media service providers overlap.
This discussion was not just a mere presentation of statistics, but a strategic confrontation of arguments. The goal was to provide media service providers with a clear roadmap: how to use precise data about the needs of their fellow citizens to create programmes that will be commercially viable, as well as socially responsible.
Participation in this year's event represents a direct continuation of the successful cooperation between the Regulator and the RAB Serbia association. It is worth reminding that the RAB Serbia association cooperates with the Regulator in the Open Days of Media Literacy campaign, which the Regulator is implementing for the fifth consecutive year.
Through joint activities, REM and members of the RAB Serbia association continue to work on improving professional standards and strengthening the educational role of electronic media. Cooperation on media literacy projects and regular exchange of research data are key to creating a responsible and informed society, in which local media remain the closest source of information to citizens, while adapting to the new digital habits of the audience.
